The CAS Teaching in Higher Education program provides comprehensive qualifications in teaching and learning support. It is aligned with the competency profile of university teachers, lecturers and program designers. The program is modular, highly flexible, and offers a uniquely broad range of elective options. Entry is possible at any time, with individualized learning paths and pacing. All courses can also be taken individually outside the CAS program. Please find further information via this link.

Fakultäre Lehrentwicklung (FLE; educational development in faculties) is a funding program of the Vice-Rectorate for Teaching for University of Bern staff. Information can be found on the corresponding webpage via this link. Events related to FLE are bundled on the following search portal.

ILIAS trainings provide introductions to using the University of Bern’s central learning platform. Various formats and levels of training are offered.

KILOF events are part of the University of Bern initiative “AI in Teaching, Research, and Organization.” An example is the annual conference focusing on one of these three sectors. Further information about KILOF is available via this link.

MentiMeetings are gatherings for users of Mentimeter, a web-based tool to make teaching more interactive. The audience participates via smartphone, tablet, or laptop in polls, quizzes, or word clouds. Results appear instantly on the projector, fostering discussion and active engagement in lectures, seminars, or workshops. Mentimeter, with its extensive features, is freely available to all staff and students of the University of Bern under an education license. More information is available via this link.

Teaching Brunches are morning events on teaching topics, organized by the faculties in cooperation with the Vice-Rectorate Teaching.

Teaching Lunches are midday events on teaching topics, organized once per semester on a rotating basis by the faculties. A light lunch for participants is provided by the Vice-Rectorate Teaching.

ToolPrimers are low-threshold introductions to digital tools or specific aspects of them. After an initial overview, participants work on their own (partial) outputs and immediately apply the tools in practice. Short, structured inputs are provided by the instructors as needed, depending on the situation. The studio-like atmosphere enables mutual feedback, coaching by the instructors, as well as brief demonstrations and discussions. This benefits both beginners and advanced participants alike. Please note the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) rules specified under the respective admission requirements.
